Our Corporate Citizenship Philosophy

Community Involvement

Supporting our local communities is an important strategic goal at Roadway Express. While our primary business objective is to provide reliable, responsive and efficient transportation service, we believe that we must do more than simply respond to the demands of the marketplace. We take seriously our responsibility to respond to the broader needs and concerns of the communities in which we live and operate. To realize our commitment to this social responsibility, our Corporate Citizenship Program consists of diverse yet carefully focused priorities that help Roadway serve as a good neighbor and enhance the quality of life in our communities while carrying out our business objectives.

Our Focus

Our support focuses on three principal areas which impact key community needs, align with strategic business issues and continue previous giving initiatives by Roadway employees. These areas are:

Driver Safety - Roadway is the carrier that cares about America's drivers. We believe sharing our employees' knowledge of safe driving can benefit America's non-commercial drivers.

Children - Roadway is committed to supporting the education and health needs of children and young people. We focus on education programs that offer creative approaches to long-standing problems, target disadvantaged youth and address issues and concerns that prevent young people from learning and staying in school.

United Way - While Roadway strongly supports this organization on a national level, our facilities are encouraged to support community efforts based on local employee interests.

Restrictions on Giving

1. Contributions are limited to organizations defined as tax- exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.

2. Contributions, generally, are not made to:

Making a Contribution Request

Unfortunately, Roadway receives many more requests for contributions than it is able to support; therefore, a large number of highly worthwhile requests must be declined. If you would like to make a request, you will need to contact the Division Vice President at the Division Office to learn the information required to submit a request for a contribution or gratis transportation. To contact this person, call the facility in your area to obtain the phone number for the corresponding Division Vice President. Requests for contributions for the Akron area should should be submitted to the address and contact noted.
