Roadway NTDC National Champions

2006 National Truck Driving Championships

A Proud Heritage

Roadway Express is proud of the safety accomplishments of its professional drivers who compete against the industry's best drivers at the National Truck Driving Championships.

The National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC) is a 4-day event hosted by the American Trucking Associations (ATA) and is an annual competition for professional truck drivers. The competition tests the skills of drivers through an intense driving competition, written examination, personal interview, and pre-trip inspection. Among the requirements, a driver must drive safely for one year and place first in his or her class at the state level.

As Richard Seigle, 2002 National Champion in the 3-axle class stated: "I participate in the Truck Driving Championships because it's an ongoing test of the skills and knowledge that will make me a better professional truck driver."

For David McDonald, being named National Champion in the twin trailers class at the 2001 ATA National Truck Driving Championships was a personal and professional thrill. "It's like the Super Bowl," he said. "Or winning the lottery. It's just incredible!"
