GAR Scholarship Fund
Investments in our Future
Scholarship applications accepted
between September and December each year.

Company co-founder Galen Roush and his wife Ruth created the private, independent GAR Foundation to support a variety of charitable works in the Akron, Ohio, area. The foundation also funds scholarships for children of Roadway employees. These scholarships are awarded to exceptionally talented high school students to support them in attending college. Two of the scholarships are given as memorials honoring company co-founder Galen Roush and former Roadway President Thomas Topping.
Each scholarship stipend is $5,000/year for up to four years of undergraduate studies. All children of regular, full-time Roadway employees are eligible. For additional information, contact the Human Resources Department at our corporate headquarters.
Only children of Roadway employees are eligible for a scholarship. Applications for scholarships are accepted between September and December each year. To apply, complete and submit the scholarship application published in the third-quarter issue of Spotlight, the Roadway employee magazine.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Fund-raising activities and payroll deduction by Roadway employees raised over $176,000 for St. Jude in 2005. St. Jude is the Memphis-based center for the research and treatment of catastrophic diseases in children. In just six years, Roadway employees have raised over $2 million for this cause.
