Being a Good Citizen

To be strong and financially successful, companies must respond to needs of their customers. By any measure, however, success also requires companies to respond to the societal concerns of the communities where they do business.

We feel a deep responsibility to lend our support, in a variety of ways, to help people in need and to build stronger communities. The needs are great, so individuals and organizations must identify the places where they feel they can best lend their support. Our Corporate Citizenship Program focuses on three areas, including some activities closely related to our business of safely and efficiently moving customer shipments across North America.

Community Service

Our primary support for social services is provided via United Way, through fund drives at the corporate level and in our offices and service centers across the country. In addition, we have a special focus on meeting the needs of children through our support of Christina’s Smile and the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Education

A good education has always been key to a successful career and satisfying personal life. Continued success in today’s business climate requires lifelong learning. Roadway supports learning through scholarships for our employees’ children. Through our involvement with the Department of Labor’s Job Corps, we help disadvantaged youth between the ages of 16-24 with education and vocational training.

Driver Safety

Safety on the highway and in the workplace is part of our corporate culture. Roadway employees are among the safest in the industry, and our drivers are recognized for their courtesy and safety. We build a culture of safety awareness through involvement in National Truck Driver Championships and the Professional Freight Handlers Competition. We share our safe driving knowledge with others through our Road Teams, top Roadway drivers who make community presentations about how to safely share the road with trucks.

You can request financial support from Roadway for your program or project.
