Senior Vice President of Corporate Sales for Roadway Express, Inc., Michael J. Murphy, was chosen as one of Irish America Magazine's "Irish America's Business 100," 2002 honorees. Murphy was selected for his outstanding contributions to society and excellence in his profession. Murphy has been in the transportation industry for 29 years with Roadway Express. He participates in several professional organizations, including National Association of Small Shipments Traffic Council, The Council of Logistics Management and NIT League. Murphy, a 2000 NASSTRAC Associate of the Year and past Chairman and President of the American Trucking Association's Sales and Marketing Council, served as Chairperson for the East Central Ohio Branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in 1999 and 2001.

Roadway Corporation announced on December 30, 2002, that it has entered into an agreement to sell its subsidiary, Arnold Transportation Services, to a management group led by the unit's president, Michael S. Walters, and a private equity firm, Jefferies Capital Partners. It is expected that the approximately $55 million transaction will be completed during the first quarter of 2003.
