Roadway's 75th Anniversary in 2005

Roadway marks its 75th anniversary this year. Watch for more celebration info in future editions of eNews! Transportation pioneer brothers Galen and Carroll Roush started Roadway in 1930 to move tires from Akron to St. Louis. This was a time when the trucking industry barely existed. Since those early days, we have been an industry leader, providing essential services that have helped build our nation's economic strength. Find out more about Roadway's roots.

"Women in Trade and Transportation"

Sandra Scott, International Relations Director, and Karen Lobdell, Senior International Account Executive, were featured in a recent issue of "The Journal of Commerce." The November 8, 2004 article is entitled "Women in Trade and Transportation: Changing the Face of the Industry." Sandra Scott credits her success to "working hard, being smart, remaining committed to a cause, belief in myself, and loyalty." She was involved in the design and development of C-TPAT and monitors international legislative and regulatory developments.

Lobdell enjoys the "consultative approach with clients" and "the ability to help them understand the complexities involved." She believes that if "you are looking for a challenge, it's the place to be."

Top U.S. Company in Service Sector

"Selling Power" magazine has recognized Roadway Express in its "50 Best Companies to Sell For" listing as a top U.S. company to sell for in the service sector.

Eddie Tafolla Named "Southern Region Driver of the Year"

The California Trucking Association has named Eddie Tafolla, a 26-year veteran of Roadway Express, the "Southern Region Driver of the Year" for 2004. Tafolla, domiciled at our Bloomington, California, service center, has been recognized for his safety commitment while driving over one million miles without a preventable accident. He has served on several safety councils, sharing his knowledge gained over years of service. A U.S. Army veteran who served as an Airborne Ranger in Vietnam, Tafolla is "engaged in keeping the highways safe while serving our customers," said Bob Stull, President of Roadway Express.
