Roadway Express proudly sponsors the fourth annual Professional Freight Handlers Competition (PFHC) in Akron, Ohio, on April 17 and 18.
Twenty-eight Roadway professional freight handlers who placed first at the regional level will compete for the title of PFHC Grand Champion. They will face four challenges: a written examination, personal interview, pre-trip inspection, and a driving course. Employees must be certified to operate forklifts and have an injury- and accident-free safety record for twelve months preceding their regional event to qualify. They must place first and maintain a perfect safety record prior to competing in the final competition.
There's no question that the skills of these professional freight handlers are put to the test every day, but some choose to put their skills to the ultimate test at the PFHC.

Two trucks were donated by Roadway Express and Yellow Transportation to aid in the rebuilding of the 112-mile Sri Lanka Railway wrecked by the destructive Dec. 26, 2004 tsunami.
These trucks will help in the collection of materials to be loaded into containers for overseas shipment. Rebuilding of the railroad is planned to begin July 1, 2005 at a cost of approximately $125 million. Click here to read more.
