"Times of Greatness"

Times of GreatnessIn partnership with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, Roadway Express is sponsoring the first-ever mobile exhibit dedicated to the Negro Leagues. The "Times of Greatness" traveling exhibit features photos, videos, uniforms and other memorabilia from the history of the Negro Leagues.

"Times of Greatness" is crossing the U.S. from April 30 to October 1, 2005. Click here for more information and public tour stops.

2005 State Truck Driving Champions Move Onward

2005 State Truck Driving ChampionsThe 2005 State Truck Driving Champions are moving toward the National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC)!

To date, Roadway drivers from all over the great USA have qualified for the NTDC by placing first at the state level. These dedicated drivers include: Alphonso Lewis (Montgomery, AL); James S. Baber (Dover, DE); Keith P. Powell (Dover, DE); Richard E. Carette (Lawrenceville, GA); Jude M. Hurst (Louisville, KY); Randy DeVault (Augusta, ME); John C. Miller (Winston-Salem, NC); Adolph Heyward, Jr. (Greenville, SC); Butch Miller (Sioux Falls, SD); Shawn E. Fidler (Las Vegas, NV).

2005 State Truck Driving ChampionsThese drivers merit the highest recognition for their devotion to safety, professionalism, and driving skills.

Roadway Helps Sponsor "LeBron's King for Kids Bikeathon"

LeBron's King for Kids BikeathonRoadway Express is a sponsor of the "LeBron's King for Kids Bikeathon" to be held Saturday, June 25, 2005, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Fifty Roadway Corporate Team bicyclists will participate. Proceeds will benefit youth and family programs in the Akron, OH area.

Akron native and NBA All-Star LeBron James has a passion for biking and for kids. This, his inaugural charity fundraiser, will be an eight-mile route through his hometown, beginning at Canal Park Stadium (home of Akron Aeros AA Baseball). A post-Bikeathon party will be open to the public and feature music, games for children, and celebrity appearances. More info...

Roadway Promotes Highway Safety

Roadway Promotes Highway SafetyRoadway joined with the Motor Freight Carriers Association and Nationwide Insurance to kick off a new Smart Driver campaign for improving safety on Ohio's highways.

Mark Spencer, Roadway Express professional truck driver, provided a hands-on demonstration in Columbus, OH to show the dangers of driving in the "No Zone" (the blind spot areas around trucks where crashes can occur). He also highlighted basic safety tips--avoiding tailgating and buckling up.

Roadway Promotes Highway SafetyTraffic congestion increases in the summer vacation months. Roadway promotes highway safety and education as keys in the fight against highway accidents and encourages everyone to become a "Smart Driver."

Driver SignpostsRoadway's Dennis D. Earnest (White Pine, TN) has achieved a career milestone of driving THREE million miles without a preventable accident. That's the mammoth equivalent of circling the earth's equator 120 times. Dennis began driving at Roadway in 1972.

In addition, six Roadway drivers have also achieved career milestones by reaching two million miles without a preventable accident: Alejo T. Salais (Sacramento, CA); Jimmy R. Hunt (Memphis, TN); Norman B. Durham, Jr. (Nashville, TN); Ivory Jones, Jr. (Nashville, TN); Rodney May (Houston, TX); Roy S. Frazier (Indianapolis, IN).

We congratulate this elite group of Roadway drivers on their commitment to serving the customer and working safely.

Roadway Express Helps the Red Cross in "Bridging America's Communities"

Golden Gate BridgeThe 80th Annual National Convention of the American Red Cross was held May 27-29, in San Francisco, CA, connecting more than 1,600 volunteers and employees of all ages from all 50 states, Washington, DC, and two territories. The Red Cross Convention was made possible due in large part to the generous support of corporate sponsors like Roadway Express. Participants engaged in discussions and workshops regarding invaluable life-saving information with Red Cross units from across the country. Learn more.
