Roadway participates in programs and processes sponsored by our parent company, YRC Worldwide, for protecting the environment.
We effectively and aggressively promote pollution prevention, waste reduction, and conservation across our daily operations.
All of our tires are disposed of through EPA-registered disposal agents. Many tires go to recycling companies for further use as energy sources, playground mats and chips, mulch for landscaping, and road construction material.
ULSD (ultra-low-sulfur diesel) is used at all YRCW internal fueling locations. This helps with cleaner emissions of NOx (nitrogen oxides) and particulate matter.
We are also introducing LED (low-emission diesel) tractors to our fleet in 2007.
Watch for more information on our environmental initiatives in our April eNews!
Bart Bryant, Roadway-sponsored PGA golfer, comes back to tournament play after a week away, and has a good weekend at The PODS Championship. Bryant posted a five under 279 to take a share of 12th place.
Look for him again March 15-18, 2007, at Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, FL, playing in the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard.

Be Prepared. You have to be ready for what you may encounter.
This may be common sense, but how many of us jump in our vehicle when the weather looks nice and later find ourselves driving in bad weather?
Some suggestions to carry to help you be prepared: extra clothing (loose layers, extra gloves, rain gear); flashlight in the glove box; blanket, food, and water; bag of sand or salt and extra washer fluid; windshield scraper; jumper cables, tire chains or traction mats; at least a half tank of gas at all times during the winter season; plan long trips carefully--are you aware of what weather conditions may you encounter?

Roadway is proud to sponsor the sixth Annual Professional Freight Handlers Competition, April 15-18, 2007.
Designed to recognize safety performance on our loading docks, this competition will be held at the John S. Knight Center in Akron, OH.
This year twenty-seven professional freight handlers will compete for the title of Grand Champion. They face four challenges: a written examination, personal interview, pre-trip inspection, and a driving course.
Employees from around the company compete in local and regional run-offs to earn their way to the company-wide competition.

March Tip: Stacking strength is lost when pallets are improperly loaded. Misalignment loses up to 30% of carton strength.
Cartons should be stacked squarely on the skid, with no overhang. Box flaps and corrugations should face up. Make the top surface as flat as possible.
Packaging your freight properly is the best way to minimize freight damage. The packaging you select must be appropriate for your product.
