Other Services Available at Reasonable Fees

Advancing collection—Fee assessed when charges for transportation-related services not in our tariff are advanced to the consignee and collected by Roadway (e.g., wharfage charges for a crane used at the pier).

Canadian processing service—Processing fee applies for border crossing between locations in Canada and the U.S.

COD collection fee—Charge for Roadway driver to collect a COD amount.

Corrected bill of lading—A charge for a change in payment terms from collect to prepaid, or from prepaid to collect, or to add, change, or delete a third-party billing.

Dock pickup—In the event of a failed delivery attempt, the fee to pick up your freight at the facility in lieu of redelivery.

Extra cargo loss protection—Additional protection (this is not insurance) against loss beyond the coverage included in your basic freight charge. Unless other-wise limited in individual tariffs, for moves within the U.S. and from the U.S. to Canada the extra protection covers shipment value exceeding $25 per pound per package, or $100,000 per shipment, whichever is lower, except for those transported under a released value, up to $2 million per shipment. For moves from Canada to the U.S. the protection covers shipment value exceeding Can$2 per pound up to Can$2 million per shipment. For moves to and from Mexico the extra protection covers shipment value exceeding US$0.50 per pound or US$5,000 per shipment, whichever is less, up to US$50,000 per shipment during the Mexico portion of the freight move.

Hazardous materials—Fee for handling shipments of hazardous materials in the U.S. or to or from Canada as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, U.S. Department of Transportation.

In bond—Fee to move import shipment to final destination within the U.S. for customs clearance; or fee to move shipment through the U.S. when the U.S. is not the origin or destination (i.e., goods from Canada traveling through the U.S. to Mexico move in bond).

Inside pickup and delivery—Charge to pick up or deliver shipments beyond the front door of your facility or dock.

Labor/labor and equipment—Charge for labor and/or equipment supplied for extra services at customer’s request.

Liftgate—Fee for liftgate when requested.

Limited access service—Pickup or delivery at camps, carnivals, chautauquas, churches, colleges, construction sites, fairs, individual/mini storage units, minesites, mosques, prisons, schools, synagogues, temples, and universities. Also includes commercial establishments not open to the walk-in public or where an employee is not available to assist with loading or unloading. This service will not apply for shipments from or to schools, colleges, or university bookstores with normal receiving hours and where an employee is readily available to assist with loading or unloading.

Marking and tagging—Charge to attach labels, tags, or stenciling per customer’s request.

Mexican processing service—Processing fee applies for shipments from the U.S./ Mexican border location or from the U.S. to Mexico.

Notification and special handling—Fee to notify the consignee before delivery as requested by the customer.

Order notify fee—Charge for Roadway to handle shipments moving on order notify bills of lading.

Redelivery—Charge to redeliver a shipment after a failed delivery attempt.

Residential pickup & delivery service—Fee for pickup or delivery at a private residence.

Rerouting—Fee to change destination before the shipment leaves the origin breakbulk, or the new destination is served by the original delivery facility; does not include additional freight charges incurred. For other types of reconsignment, consult your local Roadway customer service representative.

Reweigh and inspection—Fee to determine correct description and/or weight of your shipment if the freight charges increase by $15 or more upon our inspection.

Shipment storage—Fee to store a shipment when delivery cannot be accomplished or at the customer’s request.

Single shipment—Additional charge when a single shipment weighing or billed at less than 500 pounds is shipped on a single day from a specific location.

Sorting and segregating—Fee to sort and segregate your shipments. Check with your local Roadway facility for availability of this service.

Tradeshow pickup and delivery service—Shipments of exhibition paraphernalia, including exhibition booths or stalls, picked up or delivered to a tradeshow are subject to an additional charge.

Trailer rental—Fee to provide a trailer to ship or receive freight at a customer’s request.
