For the second year in a row and fourth time in six years, Ryder System, Inc., has named Roadway its carrier of the year in the national LTL category.
The 2006 Ryder Carrier Quality Awards program recognizes excellence through a variety of metrics, including on-time performance, claims handling, customer service, technology applications, economic value and innovation.
The innovative solutions provided by Cindy James, senior corporate account executive in Detroit, and the Ryder Strategic Customer Care Team (SCCT) in Indianapolis were key reasons Roadway was selected for this coveted award.
"Ryder places a high level of importance on innovation. Every day, the members of the SCCT demonstrate our understanding of the needs of the transportation management community and willingness to develop solutions that will help us to grow and retain profitable business together. The SCCT sets us apart from the competition," said Ivan Zenovic, vice president corporate sales and special services.
Ryder places more than $3.1 billion of its customers' shipments on selected carriers in all modes of transportation.
"Ryder is proud to recognize its top-performing carriers of 2006 who understand the demanding requirements of our supply chain solutions and transportation services and share our commitment to helping customers operate more efficiently," said Todd Carter, vice president and general manager, global transportation for Ryder.
