Roadway Driver Al Adams Reaches Milestone of 3 Million Safe Miles [09.18.2007]

Al AdamsAkron, Ohio--Sept 18, 2007--Roadway professional driver and America's Road Team Captain Al Adams has achieved the elite status of driving 3 million miles without a preventable accident.

Adams, 59, has been with Roadway for 35 years. He is a long-haul driver working out of the Roadway service center in Copley, Ohio, and he is a member of Local 24 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

"We are all proud of Al's outstanding achievement. He exemplifies the engagement and pride essential to make our highways safe while meeting our customers' needs," said Terry Gilbert, president of Roadway. "He is truly a leader in the industry."

Adams was recognized for his achievement at a safety celebration this morning. He was honored with a police escort the last few miles of his return trip from Hagerstown, MD to Copley, OH. His family and friends were on hand for the event along with the employees of the Copley Regional Service Center.

"Al's commitment to safety is evident by this great accomplishment. He embraces our priority of safety by going the extra mile to assure the safety of other drivers and his shipments while on the road every day. We congratulate Al and look forward to his next million safe miles," said Alex Forrest, service center manager for the Roadway facility in Copley.

Adams is a 2007-2008 America's Road Team Captain, a member of the Roadway Road Team, and was the 2003 Driver of the Year for the Ohio Trucking Association. Adams and his wife of 39 years, Evelyn, are proud parents of son Jeff and daughter Connie. They reside in Berlin Center, OH.
