Roadway Express Sends Best-of-the-Best Drivers to National Truck Driving Championships [08.01.2000]

AKRON, Ohio-August 1, 2000-Roadway Express, Inc. (NASDAQ: ROAD) proudly announces that 36 of its professional drivers will be on their way to compete against the industry's best drivers at the 63rd National Truck Driving Championships August 9-12, 2000 to be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA. The American Trucking Associations sponsors the final event. These state champions deserve the highest recognition for their dedication to safety, driving skill and professionalism. Their advancement to the finals merits them the "best of the best" designation across the nation. Both the state and national competitions include difficult driving skills and maneuvering tests, pre-trip inspections and a written examination covering vehicle operation and federal safety regulations. "These drivers demonstrate the dedication and career success that we strive for at Roadway." said President and Chief Operating Officer for the company, James Staley. "These are the some of the finest drivers in the industry and we appreciate the commitment to safety that they bring to our company."
