
AKRON, Ohio - August 9, 2001 - Roadway Express, Inc. has awarded the Roadway Express, Inc. Scholarship to Ryan J. Hack, a graduate of Park Hill High School in Kansas City, MO. The scholarship provides for up to four years of college study. The scholarship is awarded to dependents of eligible Roadway Express employees who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership skills.
Ryan is the son of James and Elizabeth Hack. James is a planner for Roadway Express at the Kansas City, Kansas facility.
A valedictorian in the Park Hill class of 2001, Ryan received further recognition as a State of Missouri Scholar Athlete in basketball. During his senior year, he was a co-captain of the Park Hill football team that went on to state semi-final playoffs, and lettered in academics, football, basketball, and track.
As a student, Ryan demonstrated leadership both in and out of the classroom. He was a co-treasurer of the Senior Executive Council. He was active in National Honor Society, National Forensics League, Future Business Leaders of America, Foreign Exchange Club, Young Life, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. During his junior and senior years in high school, Ryan volunteered as a forensics coach and mentor for area Hispanic high school students training for the National Hispanic Institute’s Young Leaders Conference.
Future plans for Ryan include studying international business at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO.
