AKRON, Ohio--April 20, 2001--Roadway Express, Inc. (Nasdaq:ROAD) has been honored as the "2001 LTL Nationwide Carrier of the Year" by the National Small Shipments Traffic Conference (NASSTRAC). Peter Bradley, Chief Editor for Logistics Management & Distribution Report, presented the award to Michael W. Wickham, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Roadway on April 18, 2001 in Naples, Fla.
"NASSTRAC values its relationship with its carrier partners and is dedicated to offering a forum for communications," stated NASSTRAC Executive Director, Debra Phillips. "Our `Carrier of the Year' awards allow us to recognize providers for individual leadership, service and innovation. We would like to congratulate Roadway as our winner in the National LTL category."
The voting members of NASSTRAC are companies that produce and ship goods in less-than-truckload (LTL) quantities. They require carriers that demonstrate leadership in the marketplace. The criteria for rating a carrier's performance includes innovation in quality service products, electronic-data interface (EDI), satellite tracking and other technology, loss and damage claims ratio, service performance, rating and billing accuracy, and support of the association and its legislative goals.
Wickham stated, "Roadway values its customer partnerships and is honored to receive such important recognition from this elite group of professionals. We view this award as testimonial to the commitment of all of our employees to nurture our relationships with our customers and to ensure that we are helping them to grow their own businesses."
Roadway has been the recipient of the LTL Carrier of the Year Award for 12 consecutive years, and 13 of the 15 years the Award has been given.
