
AKRON, Ohio--June 19, 2002--Roadway Express, Inc. has awarded the GAR Foundation Scholarship to Rebecca A. Nastoff of Brookfield East High School in Brookfield, WI. The GAR Foundation was established in memory of Roadway founder Galen J. Roush and his wife Ruth, and annually sponsors scholarship awards to dependents of eligible Roadway Express employees. The scholarship has a value of $5,000 per year for four years.
Rebecca is the daughter of Jane and Stephen Nastoff. Steve is the office manager for Roadway Express at the Milwaukee, WI, facility.
Honored as one of Brookfield East High School's class of 2002 top scholastic students, Rebecca has maintained an "A" average throughout high school while taking advance placement and honors courses. She attained Honor Roll status each year throughout her high school career. Rebecca was editor in chief of her high school's newspaper, and an active member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Science Club, and Track and Volleyball teams.
Rebecca was chosen by St. Dominic Church as a representative for the National Catholic Youth Conference, in St. Louis, MO, during her sophomore year. In her church, she has been a Christian Formation Center teacher, member of the Bell Choir and Teen Choir, and in charge of event organization for the church youth group.
