
AKRON, Ohio - August 27, 2002 - Richard Seigle, linehaul shuttle driver for Roadway domiciled at the company's Chicago Heights, IL, facility, won National Champion honors in the 3-Axle Class at the National Truck Driving Championships held August 13-17 in Milwaukee, WI. The competition consisted of 341 Professional drivers from all 50 states. This year Roadway Express sent 32 professional drivers to compete in the event.
"I participate in the Truck Driving Championships because it's an ongoing test of the skills and knowledge that will make me a better professional truck driver," said Richard.
Richard, a professional truck driver for 24 years, has worked for Roadway for 18 years. He belongs to the Local 705 International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He is a District Road Team member and safety instructor. He participates in speaking engagements and media events on behalf of the industry. As a "Best-of-the-Best" professional driver, Richard makes presentations to civic organizations, media representatives and driver's education classes on how to safely share the road with commercial vehicles.
