Roadway's Michael J. Murphy Named to Irish America's 100 Honor List [12.30.2002]

AKRON, Ohio--December 30, 2002--Michael J. Murphy, Senior Vice President of Corporate Sales for Roadway Express, Inc., was chosen as one of Irish America Magazine's "Irish America's Business 100," 2002 honorees.

The Business 100 is a celebration of Irish American corporate success. Murphy was selected for his outstanding contributions to society and excellence in his profession.

"I'm proud to receive this special honor from such a prestigious publication," stated Murphy. "This recognition is especially gratifying because of the involvement I have had for so many years with such strong civic and professional organizations that enabled me to make a lasting contribution to serving the needs of our communities and our customers."

Murphy has been in the transportation industry for 29 years. He spent his entire career with Roadway Express. He is responsible for the Company's corporate sales program, overseeing 30 Corporate Account Executives strategically located throughout the United States. He participates in several professional organizations, including National Association of Small Shipments Traffic Council (NASSTRAC), The Council of Logistics Management, and NIT League. He was named the 2000 NASSTRAC Associate of the Year and was past Chairman and President of the American Trucking Associations Sales and Marketing Council. He served as Chairperson for the East Central Ohio Branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in 1999 and 2001.

Murphy and his wife, Andrea, reside in Copley, Ohio and have three children.
