Roadway Express proudly announces that Patrick Wickman and George Hale were named Grand Champions, as well as first place winners in their class, at two state competitions held this past weekend (May 20-21, 2000).
Wickman took first in the 3-Axle competition at the New Hampshire State Truck Driving Championships held Saturday at the state's department of safety facility. Wickman, returning state winner, works at the Concord service center.
While Wickman was taking his honors, Hale also took first in his class-- the straight truck competition-- at the Tennessee State
Truck Driving Championships at the Nashville Airport Marriott. Hale works at the Memphis service center.
Both men were named overall Grand Champions, the highest honor at a state competition.
These competitions include difficult skills and maneuvering tests
and a written examination covering vehicle operation and federal
safety regulations. Competitors are also tested on vehicle inspection procedures.
These drivers merit the highest recognition for their dedication to
safety, professionalism, and driving skill. As state champions, these drivers will compete at the American Trucking Associations (ATA) National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC), which will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, August 9-12, 2000.
