
AKRON, Ohio — April 21, 2003 — Roadway Express, Inc., a leading less-than-truckload transporter of industrial, commercial and retail goods, announced the achievement of a milestone safety performance at its Charlotte, NC facility. The terminal's 23 dock employees have worked three years without an injury. This equates to 114,082 hours worked without an occurrence.
"This achievement is a product of a culture change at this facility," stated Dave Hegener, Terminal Manager in Charlotte. "Through the conscious effort of every employee and the activities of the terminal's Accident/Injury Prevention Council, all employees think safety first. They are very proud of their accomplishment and continue to work toward extending their injury-free record to four years."
According to Roadway Executive Vice President of Operations, John Bronneck, safety has always been a high priority at Roadway.
