Roadway Express' George Gantner Drives 3 Million Miles Accident Free [04.29.2003]

Columbus, Ohio - April 29, 2003 - George Gantner, a professional driver for Roadway Express, Inc. has logged 3 million miles, the equivalent of circling the earth's equator 120 times without a preventable accident.

Gantner, 62, is a line haul driver for the company's Columbus, Ohio facility and a member of Local 413 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. In the 33 years he has been with Roadway he has never had a preventable accident.

"Safety has always been a core value for Roadway. George's strong commitment to be engaged in serving our customers and working safely demonstrates the pride he has in his work and his company," stated President of Roadway Express, Bob Stull. "He joins an elite group of Roadway drivers, who exemplify the professionalism and skills to be the "best of the best" in our industry. We are proud of such an outstanding achievement."

George has been recognized for his achievement at a surprise party held at the Roadway facility in Columbus. He will receive a road tractor with his name and achievement emblazoned on the doors to drive for as long as he is employed by Roadway. He will also receive a plaque and jacket honoring his commitment to safety, along with an honorary dinner.

"We are all very proud of George's exemplary safety record," said Relay Manager for the Columbus facility, Jeff Olszewski. "It is a clear indication of his commitment to highway safety and his use of the extensive defensive driving training that our company provides our drivers."

Gantner resides in Centerburg, Ohio and has two sons and one daughter.
