Roadway Express' John Richburg Drives One Million Miles Accident Free [05.28.2003]

AKRON, Ohio - May 28, 2003 - John Richburg, a professional driver for Roadway Express, Inc. has logged one million miles, the equivalent of circling the earth's equator 40 times, without a preventable accident.

Richburg is a pickup and delivery driver for the company's Albany, New York facility and a member of Local 294 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He has been a truck driver for twenty-five years and a Roadway employee for sixteen years without a preventable accident.

"Safety has always been a core value for Roadway. John's strong commitment to be engaged in serving our customers and working safely demonstrates the pride he has in his work and his company," stated President of Roadway Express, Bob Stull. "He joins an elite group of Roadway drivers, who exemplify the professionalism and skills to be the "best of the best" in our industry. We are proud of such an outstanding achievement."

Richburg was recognized for his milestone at a safety breakfast held at the Roadway facility in Albany. He also received a plaque and jacket honoring his commitment to safety.

"We are very proud of John's million mile accomplishment. As a senior member of our terminal's Growth Council, his involvement and leadership have encouraged others to commit to making safety a priority for the company and the motoring public," stated Albany Terminal Manager, Todd Roman.

John and his wife, Wendy-Jo reside in Colonie, New York. They have a daughter, Amy-Jo and a son, John Jr.
