
AKRON, Ohio - June 6, 2003 - Mike Koedel, a professional switcher for Roadway Express, Inc. has logged one million miles, the equivalent of circling the earth's equator 40 times, without a preventable accident.
Koedel is a switcher for the company's Cincinnati facility and a member of Local 100 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He joined Roadway in 1979 working on the dock. He has been a switcher for 8 years, having worked approximately 25,000 hours to achieve this safety milestone.

"Mike's success is testimony to the pride and commitment our engaged workforce has while serving our customers and working safely."
"Mike is a valuable member of our team and we're proud of his special accomplishment," stated Cincinnati Terminal Manager, Scott Corwin. "This summer, he will be inducted into the Cincinnati terminal's group of Roadway Intercity Million Milers (RIMM), which consists of 15 active and 15 retired million mile drivers."
Koedel will be honored with a dinner and will receive a plaque and jacket to celebrate his achievement.
