
Roadway Express proudly announces that Will Jones is a new addition to Team Roadway for the 2003 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC). This comes after placing first at the Maryland Truck Driving Championships held at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland, on June 14.
Jones, a driver/dock worker at Roadway's Baltimore, MD facility, earned first place, 3-Axle class. Jones has previously earned a first place in the 4-Axle class and a Perfect Pre-Trip special recognition at the 2000 Maryland Truck Driving Championships, and first place, 4-Axle class in the 2001 championships.
These competitions include difficult maneuvering tests and a written examination covering vehicle operation and federal safety regulations. Competitors are also tested on vehicle inspection procedures.
Team Roadway NTDC drivers merit the highest recognition for their dedication to safety, professionalism, and driving skill. As state champions, they are on the "Road to Columbus" to compete at the American Trucking Association's (ATA) National Truck Driving Championships, which will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, August 19-23, 2003.
