Two Roadway Drivers Head to Nationals After Winning at Ohio Truck Driving Championships [06.14.2003]

Roadway Express proudly announces two Ohio drivers are new additions to Team Roadway for the 2003 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC).

Gary Weicht, and Mike Horak, placed first in their classes at the Ohio Truck Driving Championships held at Ohio State University's West Campus in Columbus, Ohio, on June 13-14.

Gary Weicht, a road driver, won first place in the Tanker class this year. Gary was a three-time previous winner at the 2000, 2001, and 2002 Ohio Truck Driving Championships in the Tanker class. Gary has worked over 34 years in the trucking industry.

Mike Horak won first place in the 4-Axle class in this year's Ohio Truck Driving Championships. Mike is a road driver from Roadway's Akron/Copley, Ohio facility.

Additionally, Roadway won the Ohio Team Trophy.

This competition includes difficult maneuvering tests and a written examination covering vehicle operation and federal safety regulations. Competitors are also tested on vehicle inspection procedures.

These drivers merit the highest recognition for their dedication to safety, professionalism, and driving skill. As state champions, they are on the "Road to Columbus" to compete at the American Trucking Association's (ATA) National Truck Driving Championships, which will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, August 19-23, 2003.
