Roadway Drivers Take First in California, Florida, and Iowa State Truck Driving Championships [06.22.2003]

Roadway Express proudly announces three drivers are new additions to Team Roadway for the 2003 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC).

Felipe Leyva, Dale Cook, and Ed Knapp placed first in their respective classes at the California, Florida and Iowa Truck Driving Championships held last weekend.

Felipe Leyva, a Pickup & Delivery driver, who earned first place in the Straight Truck class this year, is domiciled at Roadway's Oakland, California facility.

Dale Cook earned first place in the Straight Truck class. Cook, a driver/dock worker domiciled at Roadway's Lakeland, Florida facility, was the D06 Champion at the 2001 Professional Freight Handlers Competition.

Ed Knapp, a driver/dock worker, earned first place in the Flatbed class. Knapp is domiciled at Roadway's Des Moines, Iowa facility.

These competitions include difficult maneuvering tests and a written examination covering vehicle operation and federal safety regulations. Competitors are also tested on vehicle inspection procedures.

These drivers merit the highest recognition for their dedication to safety, professionalism, and driving skill. As state champions, they are on the "Road to Columbus" to compete at the American Trucking Association's (ATA) National Truck Driving Championships, which will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, August 19-23, 2003.
