Roadway Express' Steve Bennett Reaches Milestone Of Driving One Million Miles Accident Free [06.26.2003]

AKRON, Ohio - June 26, 2003 - Steve Bennett, a professional driver for Roadway Express, Inc. has traveled over one million safe miles, the equivalent of circling the earth's equator 40 times without a preventable accident.

Bennett has been a pickup and delivery city driver for Roadway for 18 years and is domiciled at the carrier's West Chester, PA facility. He is a member of Local 312 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

"With individual employee performance such as exists in West Chester, I am confident that this dedication can make our vision to become the "Safest Transportation Company in North America" a reality," stated Bob Stull, President of Roadway Express. "This success is testimony to the pride and commitment our engaged workforce has while serving our customers and working safely."

Bennett was recognized for his achievement with a plaque, a decal for his truck and a jacket honoring his commitment to safety.

"Steve epitomizes the essence of a driver/sales representative. He is totally focused on his customers, as well as safety," stated West Chester Terminal Manager, Greg Trunzo. "He constantly applies safe driving techniques and displays a positive attitude towards highway safety. Steve's achievement of this milestone, while driving in a challenging area on a daily basis, is further testimony of his driving skills."

Bennett resides in West Chester with his wife, Margie. He enjoys hunting and playing golf.
