Roadway Drivers Take Firsts in Texas, New Mexico, and Wisconsin State Truck Driving [06.21.2003]

Roadway Express proudly announces four drivers are new additions to Team Roadway for the 2003 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC).

Kevin Locke, Kim Hendrex, Jim DePouw, and Don Marr placed first in their respective classes at the Texas, New Mexico and Wisconsin Truck Driving Championships held June 20-21.

Kevin Locke, a driver/dock worker, who earned first place in the Twins class this year, is domiciled at Roadway's Fort Worth, Texas facility.

Kim Hendrex, a road driver, who earned first place in the Straight Truck class this year, is domiciled at Roadway's Albuquerque, New Mexico relay facility.

Jim DePouw earned first place in the 5-Axle Van class. DePouw, a driver/dock worker domiciled at Roadway's Green Bay, Wisconsin facility, was the Tanker Class State Champion in 1998 and 1999.

Don Marr, a road driver, earned first place in the Tanker class. Marr is domiciled at Roadway's Milwaukee, Wisconsin facility. He is no stranger to the State and National competitions. Don has been an active participant and scored highly for a great number of years.

In addition, Wisconsin won the Team Trophy.

These competitions include difficult maneuvering tests and a written examination covering vehicle operation and federal safety regulations. Competitors are also tested on vehicle inspection procedures.

These drivers merit the highest recognition for their dedication to safety, professionalism, and driving skill. As state champions, they are on the "Road to Columbus" to compete at the American Trucking Association's (ATA) National Truck Driving Championships, which will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, August 19-23, 2003.
