
Roadway Express proudly announces two New Hampshire drivers are new additions to Team Roadway for the 2003 National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC).
Michael (Mickey) Rafeal, and Rick Wickman, placed first in their classes at the New Hampshire Truck Driving Championships held at the New Hampshire Department of Safety in Concord, NH, on June 21, 2003.
Michael (Mickey) Rafeal, a driver/dock worker, won first place in the Twins class this year. Michael was a previous winner at the 2002 New Hampshire Truck Driving Championships in the Twins class. He won Best Written Exam and Best Pre-trip in 2002. Michael has worked over 30 years in the trucking industry. In 1998, he also won first place in the New Hampshire Truck Driving Championships. Michael is a driver/dock worker from Roadway's Concord, New Hampshire facility.
Rick Wickman won first place in the 3-Axle class in this year's New Hampshire Truck Driving Championships. Rick is a driver/dock worker from Roadway's Concord, New Hampshire facility. He won first place as the District 21 champion and attended the Roadway Express Professional Freight Handlers Competition on September 19-20, 2001. He received Best Pre-Trip Inspection. Wickman took first in the 3-Axle competition at the 2000 New Hampshire State Truck Driving Championships and was named a Grand Champion. A returning state winner, Wickman was also a 1998 champion.
Roadway also won the New Hampshire Team Trophy.
This competition includes difficult maneuvering tests and a written examination covering vehicle operation and federal safety regulations. Competitors are also tested on vehicle inspection procedures.
These drivers merit the highest recognition for their dedication to safety, professionalism, and driving skill. As state champions, they are on the "Road to Columbus" to compete at the American Trucking Association's (ATA) National Truck Driving Championships, which will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, August 19-23, 2003.
