Gregory Nauertz was named Three-Axle National Champion at the 2003 National Truck Driving Championships in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, August 23.

The National Truck Driving Championships is a 4-day event hosted by the American Trucking Associations (ATA) and is an annual competition for professional truck drivers. The competition tests the skills of drivers through an intense driving competition, written examination, personal interview, and pre-trip inspection.

Nauertz, a driver/sales representative from Phoenix, Arizona, is a 15-year Roadway Express employee. He has competed at the state level since 1991, was named Grand Champion at Arizona's state competition in 2003, and has competed at the national level in 1999 and 2002.

Roadway Express sent a team of 35 professional drivers to the competition this year. Among other requirements, a driver must drive safely for one year and place first in his or her class at the state level.
