NASSTRAC Shippers Name Roadway Express Best LTL Carrier [09.22.2003]

AKRON, Ohio—September 22, 2003—Roadway Express, Inc. has been honored as the "2003 Less-than-Truckload (LTL) Nationwide Carrier of the Year" by the National Small Shipments Traffic Conference (NASSTRAC) held on September 16, 2003. President and CEO of Roadway Corporation, James D. Staley, received the award on behalf of the Company.

"The entire Roadway workforce shares this award and a tremendous sense of pride for recognition of their commitment to superior performance by our NASSTRAC customers," said Staley. "NASSTRAC is an important partner that promotes the goals of its members and supports supply chain responsibilities through its advocacy of issues affecting the industry."

The voting members of NASSTRAC recognize carriers that demonstrate excellence in a variety of areas, including innovation, industry leadership, rating and billing accuracy, e-commerce, service performance, support of NASSTRAC and its legislative goals, claims prevention and technology.

Roadway has been the recipient of the LTL Carrier of the Year Award for 14 consecutive years, and 15 of the 17 years the Award has been given. The Carrier of the Year program is co-sponsored by NASSTRAC and Logistics Management, a trade magazine for buyers of logistics services.
