
DETROIT, Michigan - October 8, 2003 - Dave Demerest, a professional driver for Roadway Express, Inc. has logged one million miles without a preventable accident.
Demerest, 42, is a pickup and delivery driver for the company's Detroit facility and a member of Local 299 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. In the 14 years he has been with Roadway, he has never had a preventable accident.
"Congratulations to Dave for this significant milestone in his career. He is a member of an elite group of professional drivers who are focused on making our highways safe while creating solutions to satisfy our customers' needs," stated Bob Stull, President of Roadway Express.
Demerest has been recognized for his achievement at a safety breakfast held at the Detroit terminal. He received a plaque and jacket honoring his commitment to safety.
"We are all very proud of Dave's exemplary safety record," said Tom Siefert, Detroit Terminal Manager. "Dave excelled in superior safety performance at the Ann Arbor terminal and has continued his success since coming to Detroit. His accomplishment is testimony to the high caliber of dedicated drivers who represent Roadway."
Demerest lives in Livonia, MI and has two sons. He especially enjoys sharing his spirituality in corporate and small group worship. He also enjoys fishing and golf.
