
AKRON, Ohio - November 6, 2003 - Kent Stevens, a professional driver for Roadway Express, Inc. has traveled over one million safe miles, the equivalent of circling the earth's equator 40 times, without a preventable accident.
Stevens, 47, has been a linehaul driver for Roadway for 12 years and is domiciled at the carrier's Cincinnati, OH facility. He is a member of Local 100 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
"With individual employee performance such as exists in Cincinnati, I am confident that this dedication can make our vision to become the "Safest Transportation Company in North America" a reality," stated Bob Stull, President of Roadway Express. "This success is testimony to the pride and commitment our engaged workforce has while serving our customers and working safely."
Stevens will be recognized for his achievement with a celebration dinner, a plaque, and a jacket honoring his commitment to safety.

"He constantly applies safe driving techniques and displays a positive attitude towards highway safety. Stevens resides in Ross, OH, with his wife of 21 years, Kathie, and daughter Nichole. In addition to being a "million-miler" he is also an avid golfer, fisherman and bowler.
