
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - March 19, 2004 - John Kopiak, a professional driver for Roadway Express, Inc. has logged three million miles, the equivalent of circling the earth's equator 120 times, without a preventable accident.
Kopiak, 56, is a linehaul driver for the company's Winston-Salem facility and a member of Local 391 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. In the 32 years he has been with Roadway, he has never had a preventable accident.
"Safety has always been a core value for Roadway. John's strong commitment to be engaged in serving our customers and working safely demonstrates the pride he has in his work and his company," stated President of Roadway Express, Bob Stull. He joins an elite group of Roadway drivers, who exemplify the professionalism and skills to be the "best of the best" in our industry."
"We are all proud of John's outstanding safety record," said Winston-Salem Relay Manager, Ralph Neal. "It is a clear indication of his commitment to safety and his use of the extensive defensive driving training that our company provides."
Kopiak was recognized for his achievement at a Roadway safety banquet held in High Point, NC. He received his own tractor to drive with his accomplishment emblazoned on the door, a plaque and a jacket honoring his commitment to safety.
Kopiak and his wife reside in Greensboro, NC. He enjoys vacation travel and spending time with his family.
