DOVER, Delaware - April 1, 2004 - Dave Comegys, a professional driver for Roadway Express, Inc., has reached a milestone of driving one million miles without a preventable accident. This is the equivalent of circling the earth's equator 40 times.
Comegys, 44, has worked for Roadway for 15 years accident free. He is a pickup and delivery driver domiciled at the company's Dover facility and a member of Local 326 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
"Safety has always been a core value for Roadway. Dave's strong commitment to be engaged in serving our customers and working safely demonstrate the pride he has in his work and his company," stated President of Roadway Express, Bob Stull. "He joins an elite group of Roadway drivers, who exemplify the professionalism and skills it takes to be a fine example and influence throughout the industry."
Comegys will be recognized at a safety breakfast, where he will be presented with a plaque and a jacket commemorating his achievement.
"We are extremely proud of Dave's accomplishment," said Dover Terminal Manager, Ron Turnbaugh. "It is a clear indication of his commitment to highway safety and his use of the extensive defensive driving training that our company provides our drivers. He always puts safety first."
Comegys and his wife, Susan, reside in Dover. Dave has one daughter, Lauren. He is an avid NASCAR fan and a talented carpenter.
