
GREENVILLE, SC - April 5, 2004 - Raymond Knox, a professional driver for Roadway Express, Inc. has logged three million miles, the equivalent of circling the earth's equator 120 times, without a preventable accident.
Knox, 62, is a linehaul driver for the company's Greenville facility and a member of Local 28 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. In the 33 years working at Roadway, he has never had a preventable accident.
"We congratulate Raymond for this rare accomplishment in the transportation industry. His strong commitment to be engaged in serving our customers and working safely demonstrates the pride he has in his work and his company," stated President of Roadway Express, Bob Stull. "He joins an elite group of Roadway drivers, who exemplify the professionalism and skills to be a fine example and inspiration for all drivers to follow."
Knox participated in a celebration that was held at the Greenville facility to recognize him for his achievement. He was presented with his own tractor to drive for the rest of his career with his milestone emblazoned on the door. He also received a plaque and jacket honoring his commitment to safety.
"The Greenville team is very proud of Raymond and what he has accomplished in the area of safety," said Greenville Relay Manager, Conley Edwards. "His achievement exemplifies his true character and his concern for safety, the motoring public and the image of our company."
Knox and his wife, Ernestine, reside in Greenville. He enjoys working with young adults through his church, traveling and spending time with his family.
