
DURHAM, North Carolina - April 07, 2004 - Ricky Allen, a professional driver for Roadway Express, Inc. has logged one million miles without a preventable accident.
Mr. Allen, 45, is a pickup and delivery driver/account specialist for the company's Durham facility and a member of Local 391 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. In the 20 years he has been with Roadway he has never had a preventable accident.
"We are proud of Ricky's outstanding performance. His strong commitment of engagement serving our customers and working safely demonstrates pride in his work and the company," said President of Roadway Express, Bob Stull. "He joins an elite group of drivers, who set a fine example of leadership and maintain the skills that will influence the transportation industry."
Mr. Allen will be recognized for his achievement at a safety dinner to be held at the Roadway facility in Durham. He will also receive a plaque and jacket honoring his commitment to safety.
"We are all very proud of Ricky's exemplary safety record and his career milestone," said Terminal Manager for the Durham facility, Oliver Blue. "This is a clear indication of his commitment to highway safety and his use of the extensive defensive driving training that Roadway provides our drivers."
Mr. Allen resides in Creedmoor, North Carolina. He enjoys traveling, a good game of horseshoes and baseball.
