Roadway Express Driver Tim Bruce Travels One Million Miles Accident Free [10.28.2004]

TAMPA, Florida - October 28, 2004 - Tim Bruce, a professional driver for Roadway Express, has logged one million miles, the equivalent of circling the earth's equator 40 times without a preventable accident.

Mr. Bruce, 46, is a pickup and delivery driver for the company's Tampa facility and a member of Local 79 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. In the 17 years he has been with Roadway he has never had a preventable accident.

"Congratulations to Tim for his exceptional milestone. With individual employee performance such as exists in Tampa, I am confident that this dedication can make our vision to become the 'Safest Transportation Company in North America' a reality," stated Bob Stull, President of Roadway Express. "This success is testimony to the pride and commitment Tim has while serving our customers and working safely."

Mr. Bruce will be recognized for his achievement at a safety breakfast to be held at the Roadway facility in Tampa on November 8, 2004. He will receive a plaque, jacket, hat and decals honoring his commitment to safety.

"We are all very proud of Tim's exemplary safety record," said Charles Caldwell, Terminal Manager of the Tampa facility. "It is a clear indication of his engagement in making highways safe and his use of the extensive defensive driving training that our company provides our drivers."

Mr. Bruce and his wife, Laura, reside in New Port Richey, Florida and they have two daughters, Kelly, 17, and Katie, 15. He is an active member of the Masonic Lodge 652, enjoys collecting sports memorabilia and playing golf. Weekends are devoted to his daughters' activities of volleyball and dancing.
