
KERNERSVILLE, North Carolina - November 3, 2004 - The North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL) named the Roadway Express Kernersville facility a Rising STAR Worksite. The STAR program is designed to recognize and promote effective safety and health programs in the workplace. This prestigious award will be presented at the Kernersville terminal on November 19, 2004 at noon.

Roadway management, labor and the NCDOL established a cooperative relationship. Management and employees agreed to operate an effective program that meets established safety and health standards. NCDOL verified that the company's program meets STAR criteria. STAR participants benefit with reduced injuries and illnesses to employees, improved employee motivation to work safely, better quality and productivity performance, reduced worker's compensation costs and recognition in the community as an employer committed to safety.
