AKRON, Ohio - December 6, 2004 - Roadway Express has been recognized as a top U.S. company to sell for in the service sector by Selling Power magazine in its "50 Best Companies to Sell for" list.
Selling Power ranks the top 25 service companies and the top 25 manufacturing companies. The Selling Power research team reviews responses to an extensive survey questionnaire that was sent to top sales executives, training managers and human resource managers of companies with a sales force of 500 or more salespeople. Independent research is also added to the information database. Assessments are based on compensation, training and career mobility. Under the category of compensation the focus was on average starting salaries, incentive pay plans and other benefits. Training reviews included time invested in product knowledge, selling skills and follow-up training programs. Criteria for career mobility included number of performance reviews, employee turnover rate and number of people promoted from the sales ranks each year.
"We are proud of our sales team for their excellent performance and the innovative solutions they provide our customers," said Terry Gilbert, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Roadway Express. "We are honored to be named a leading selling organization in the industry. It is a tribute to our methods of recruiting, training and providing the right sales tools for our sales force."
