Akron, Ohio - September 6, 2005 - The Akron Aeros baseball club presented its annual Aeros Spirit of Akron award to Roadway Express, Inc. The minor league club created the award to recognize businesses for commitment to the Akron community.

Roadway was honored for its support of an Aeros program for school-age youngsters called Education Days, as well as support for local charitable causes. These include: United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts of the Western Reserve, Boy Scouts of America, and YMCA of Summit County. In addition, Roadway employees serve as classroom tutors in the Akron Reads program and as classroom volunteers in the Junior Achievement program.
Roadway also provides transportation at no charge for a mobile dental clinic that presents free dentistry to underprivileged children. The Christina's Smile Dental Clinic has 21 clinics scheduled for this year. Since its inception in 1990, the clinic has provided over $10 million worth of free dentistry around the country.
