AKRON, Ohio - September 30, 2005 - Roadway Express has been recognized as the "2005 Less-than-Truckload (LTL) Nationwide Carrier of the Year" by the National Small Shipments Traffic Conference (NASSTRAC). Mike Smid, President and CEO of Roadway, accepted the award on behalf of Roadway at the NASSTRAC fall meeting September 25-27 in Baltimore, MD.

Again this year, NASSTRAC members graded carriers on a quantitative scale in the areas of customer service, operational excellence, pricing, business relationship, industry leadership and technology. When the votes were tallied, Roadway again ranked first among service providers.
Roadway has been the recipient of the LTL Carrier of the Year Award for 16 consecutive years, and 17 of the 19 years this award has been given. The Carrier of the Year program is co-sponsored by NASSTRAC and Logistics Management, a trade magazine for buyers of logistics services.
