
Randy DeVault was named national champion in the straight truck class at the 2006 National Truck Driving Championships. A driver account specialist from Augusta, Maine, Randy placed first in the class to earn the national title.
Randy, a state competitor since 1990, has earned his way to the national event nine times. A 17-year Roadway employee, he is a Smith System® and hazardous materials trainer at his service center, is a coordinator of his district's Road Team, and has driven over one million accident-free miles.
In 2003, Randy was grand champion at the company's professional freight handlers competition, an event recognizing safety skills in dock operations.
In addition, Jesse Holt, a linehaul driver, from Chattanooga, Tennessee, received an award. Jesse placed second in the flatbed class. A 32-year Roadway employee, Jesse has driven over two million accident-free miles, is a member of his district's Road Team, and has earned his way to the national competition three times.

Twenty-six Roadway drivers participated in the competition August 16-19 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Nearly 400 drivers from across the United States attended the 69th annual competition. Each driver qualified by driving safely for one year and placing first in his or her state competition.
The annual "Super Bowl of Safety" is sponsored by the American Trucking Associations (ATA).
