Roadway Driver John Seals Jr. Drives Three Million Accident-Free Miles [10.06.2006]

Meridian, Miss., October 6, 2006 — John Seals Jr., a professional driver for Roadway, has achieved the extraordinary milestone of driving three million consecutive miles without a preventable accident.

Seals, 56, has been with Roadway for 29 years, 26 years at the Roadway facility in Meridian. John is a member of Teamsters Local 891.

"We are all proud of John's outstanding achievement. His daily dedication to safety on the road, and his ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of our customers, is admirable," said Mike Smid, President and CEO of Roadway. "John is truly a leader in our company, the industry and the community."

"John embraces safety as a priority, going the extra mile to assure his safety and that of others every day while on the road. We congratulate John and look forward to him reaching four million safe miles," said Scott Whitcomb, service team manager for the Roadway facility in Meridian.

John is the son of Ina Mae Seals, who resides in Douglas. He has two children, Dewayne and Keyuna. In his spare time, John loves to go fishing.
