Roadway Driver Clinton Eshleman Achieves 4 Million Safe Miles [02.07.2007]

Tannersville, PA — February 6, 2007 — Clinton Eshleman, a professional driver for Roadway, has logged 4 million miles, roughly the equivalent of circling the earth's equator 160 times, without a preventable accident.

Eshleman, 64, has been with Roadway for 37 years. He has worked at the Roadway service center in Tannersville for 33 years and currently is based there as an over-the-road driver. Eshleman is a member of Local #229 of The International Brotherhood of Teamsters in Scranton.

"We are all proud of Clinton's outstanding achievement. He exemplifies the engagement and pride essential to make our highways safe while meeting our customers' needs for efficient and reliable transportation services," said Terry Gilbert, president of Roadway. "He is truly a leader in the industry."

Roadway employees, family and friends will honor Eshleman for his achievement at a safety breakfast February 15th at the Tannersville service center.

"Clinton's commitment to safety is evident by this great accomplishment. He embraces our priority of safety, going the extra mile to assure his safety and that of others on the road every day. We congratulate Clinton and look forward to his continued leadership in safety," said Tom Smedley, regional service center manager for Roadway in Tannersville.

Clinton and wife of 40 years, Mae, take great pride in their five children; Kathy, Joanne, Charles Jr., Clinton Jr., and Thomas; 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Clinton enjoys bass fishing in the Finger Lakes and Lake Gaston, VA.
