Five Million Safe Miles for Roadway Drivers in St. Louis [03.19.2007]

Long-distance drivers based at the Roadway regional service center in St. Louis, MO, surpassed FIVE million miles of accident-free driving on March 3, 2007.

Between Nov. 11, 2006, and March 3, 2007, the drivers collectively logged 5,037,021 miles, roughly the equivalent of circling the earth's equator 200 times, without a preventable accident. Their safe-driving span is continuing.

Of the 123 professionals contributing to this safety achievement, 78 are members of two-driver sleeper teams traveling between St. Louis and Sacramento, CA; Bloomington, CA; Salt Lake City, UT; and Phoenix, AZ. The remaining work single-driver routes transporting shipments between St. Louis and Roadway service centers in 12 cities, including Atlanta, GA; Evansville, IN; Louisville, KY; and Akron, OH.

The longest sleeper team route is between St. Louis and Sacramento, a distance of 4,002 round-trip miles. The longest single-driver route is between St. Louis and Dallas, a distance of 611 miles.
