Akron, Ohio, May 21, 2007--Randy Devault, a professional Roadway driver, placed first in the Straight Truck class at the Maine state truck driving competition. The win qualifies Devault of Hartford, ME for the 70th Annual National Truck Driving Championships in Minneapolis in August, where he'll defend his 2006 National Champion title.
Randy is a driver account specialist at the Roadway service center in Portland, ME. He has worked for Roadway since 1991.
To participate in state-level competitions, drivers must be accident-free for the 12 months leading up to the event. The state competitions include challenging skills and maneuvering tests on a driving course, a pre-trip inspection, and a written exam on vehicle operation and federal safety regulations.
Winners at the state level will compete at the National Truck Driving Championships event August 21-25 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Approximately 400 drivers from around the country will vie for national titles in their respective vehicle classes. The American Trucking Associations sponsors the event.
