ROADWAY EXPRESS NAMED 'QUEST FOR QUALITY' CARRIER
AKRON, Ohio -- September 13, 1999 -- As a tribute to the commitment of Roadway Express (NASDAQ: ROAD) and all its employees, the motor carrier was recognized in the August issue of Logistics Management and Distribution Report as a 'Quest for Quality' winner for 1999.

Over 3,300 readers of the magazine responded to the annual survey this year.
Recipients of the award are judged for high standards of performance, including customer service, innovation in information technology, on-time performance, value, and equipment and operations.
