
President's ColumnIn mid-March we implemented our network changes. The changes repositioned many resources in the Roadway network.
Thousands of pieces of equipment and more than 1,000 jobs within our network were repositioned in order to redefine the way we handle our customers' shipments.
The repositioning of these resources set the stage for substantial improvements in our transit times and the level of reliability we provide on a day-to-day basis.
These changes resulted in more than 12,000 fewer transfers or touches to shipments moving in our system each week. More than 40 percent of all lanes now move in two days or less.
What does that mean for our customers? For our standard service offering, transit time has been reduced on 4, 423 lanes. For our Time-Critical™ expedited offering, transit time has been reduced on 1,531 lanes.
You can now expect coast-to-coast service in four days and service from the middle of the country to the coasts at three days or less. In many markets, distances of 1,000 miles or less will be handled in two days or less.
In Canada, our network is operated by our subsidiary, Reimer Express Lines, which has been part of the Roadway family since 1997. Our network changes provide for even better transportation to and from Canada. Shipments now move to and from the border in fewer days with greater reliability. Cross-border operations and delivery to final destination are seamless.
Reimer Fast as Flite is a premium service providing guaranteed expedited ground service between the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. Whether a shipment is moving across the Canada/U.S. border or within Canadian borders, the standard for transportation service in Canada is Reimer Express Lines.
