President's ColumnOur network has changed based on your needs. In mid-March of this year we repositioned thousands of jobs and pieces of equipment to initiate the redefinition of our network and services. Resources were moved to reflect a new type of transportation network. In early April many of our transit times in the eastern part of the U.S. were reduced to reflect the more efficient movement of shipments, which began moving up to 1,100 miles in two days or less.
On June 19, transit times on many of the transcontinental lanes were changed to reflect our new capabilities from the middle of the country and the east coast to the west coast. Shipments are consolidated daily in the east and middle of the country and move direct to delivering facilities on the west coast. The results are reduced handling and faster, more reliable transit times.
The change has allowed for a very significant reduction in transit time in our transportation system. Most shipments are now in our network one full day less and are subjected to less intermediate handling and consolidation.
Our special services have been enhanced as result of the change. New connections for Canada at Buffalo and more direct routes to and from Canada allow for even better service to and from U.S. points and significant locations in most provinces. Reimer is a provider of premium service throughout Canada and is an integrated part of the Roadway network.

With more rapid movement through our new network the results have been exceptional. Many of these shipments are part of unique distributions requiring special security handling or very special treatment.
